Perioperative Registered Nurse - CCOFS Rock Hill (PRN)

The Perioperative Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing guidance, clinical expertise, and mentoring to members of the health care and administrative team within the specialty while optimizing available resources to achieve optimal patient outcomes. In collaboration with other members of the management team, the Perioperative RN assists, monitors, and implements nursing care within the OR in accordance with established policies/procedures, serves as a resource person for the OR staff, and models a commitment to the organization's vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance. Works directly with clinical supervisors to ensure quality, safety and efficiency within the perioperative area. This role is expected to work approximately three (3) days per month.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists with the admission and discharge processes (through the post-op recovery) to ensure efficient throughput and high quality, patient-centered care.
  • Provides patient with safe, therapeutic and quality medical care by utilizing the nursing process and diagnosis in a timely manner, setting appropriate priorities.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of nursing care, revises plan of care if applicable, then continues, with other tasks.
  • Completes patient charting accurately and concisely.
  • Assists anesthesiologist before, during, and after induction of anesthesia.
  • Assists physician in performance of procedures through implementation of the perioperative process.
  • Act as a clinical resource for perioperative services personnel within the specialty using professional guidelines and evidence-based standards.Coordinates, facilitates, and manages change within the specialty area.
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts and other managers to create an environment of teamwork that supports improved outcomes and service. Communicates and collaborates effectively with members of the perioperative leadership teams.
  • Supports the efforts of the facility to improve current nursing strategies, including rounding and participating in surgeries, as well as other related initiatives as needed.
  • Supports proper OR inventory control and assists with managing supplies and equipment. Verifies that necessary equipment and supplies are available.
  • Proactively looks for opportunities to improve protocols and policies to enhance efficiency, safety, patient experience, and profitability.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) and a minimum of two or more years of clinical nursing experience including 1 year of recent operating room nursing experience.
  • Current RN license in North and/or South Carolina
  • Current BLS certification
  • Prior experience within an ambulatory outpatient surgical center specializing in oral surgery (preferred)
